Horses have been a major part of Kathy's life since she was a small child. She was first involved in 4-H and pony club, and evolved into a nationally competive event and dressage rider.
The epitome of her competive career was her imported Trakehner stallion, "Exsar", first as an event horse competing through the Preliminary level, and finally, as an FEI level dressage horse competing throughout the Northeastern U. S. and in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Mallard Cove Farm was started by Kathy and her husband, Tom, to showcase Kathy as a breeder, trainer, and competitor with Exsar and his many get. It included eight Hungarian horses acquired in Montana and Nebraska.
